Bangladesh EV demand grows while charging and support lag

A new market report records rising deliveries but warns that charging utilisation, service skills and battery end-of-life systems remain immature.

The Business Standard reports that BYD had delivered more than 1,400 new-energy vehicles in Bangladesh and was averaging roughly 160 monthly deliveries in 2026. The same report estimates about 30 compatible public charging stations, showing that car demand is moving faster than dependable public infrastructure.

Crack Platoon told the newspaper it had installed 32 public charging units, but utilisation remains low. Operators and owners also highlighted gaps in trained technicians, parts support and systems for battery reuse or recycling.

For buyers, the practical lesson is to treat reliable home or workplace charging and written after-sales commitments as part of the purchase price. A public pin on a map should be a backup until its connector and live status have been confirmed.
